Patrick Manning is managing partner at Black Desert and Reef Capital Partners. Over his 30-year career in real estate development, he specializes in the full life-cycle of real estate projects, from acquisition and governmental entitlements to design, construction and marketing.

Patrick has played a pivotal role in developing nearly 180 resorts, with Black Desert being the largest and most significant project under his leadership. His commitment to this project began two decades ago when he first encountered the Southern Utah property, eventually relocating his family and focusing all of his efforts on its development.

He thoughtfully designed the project to become the largest resort in Utah upon completion. The 600-acre resort and entertainment complex, spanning Ivins, Santa Clara and St. George, will eventually feature approximately 3,000 rooms; with uniquely luxurious amenities including a world-class spa, outdoor retail boardwalk, 5-acre water park and more.

Under Patrick’s guidance, Black Desert has embraced environmental stewardship, earning multiple honors such as the 2023 Utah Green Building Award. The resort has also received the Platinum Certified Signature Sanctuary Award from Audubon International, which would make it the first in Utah, and the first Platinum Certified Signature Sanctuary in the world.

His expertise extends beyond local endeavors, managing high-end resort transactions across 17 states and five countries. His leadership roles include serving on the National Board of Trustees for the American Resort Developers Association, the State Executive Board of World Trade Center Utah, the Southern Utah Board of Governors and the Stakeholder Board of the Housing Action Coalition.

Patrick is also actively involved with various cultural and educational institutions, including the Southwest Symphony Orchestra and Utah Tech University, prioritizing art, historical preservation and community impact. His work extends further to partnerships with non-profits, corporate relationships and sports franchises.

Outside of the office, Patrick is a dedicated family man who prioritizes his wife and children, ensuring that his family values guide his professional and personal decisions.
